My adventure to Maine

I've been doing a lot of traveling this summer. It's been wonderful. I really enjoy traveling so I find it a blessing. This Thursday Melissa and I drove up to Gray, Maine to visit Lisa who's been there for a week. I was really glad it came together since Melissa was gone until Thursday morning on a cruise, but she pulled on through and we left that night. The whole I time I felt was a big blessing, atleast for me, and I'm pretty sure we can all say the same. When we got there (to the Springer camp) on Thursday, we went for a little walk past Andrew Card's house (someone who works with the president) and Melissa waved at the secret service men that are always sitting in an SUV outside their house. The next day we swam for a few hours after searching for a dead turtle Lisa's parents told us about. We found it, and it was pretty bloated and disgusting. Her mom wanted us to "harvest the eggs" but we decided if there were any, they were probably long gone. We spent a good part of those few hours discovering the creatures in the lake. Melissa collected LOTS of clams and snail shells. Hehe. For dinner we brought Lisa out for her birthday. (which is on Sunday the 21st) I guess she had been collecting bottles to turn in to the redemption center so she could make a little moula. We stopped at the building where it said "Redemption center" or something like that. Lisa walked through the door, and came back a few seconds later with the bottles still in her hands. I guess the sign was wrong because she ended up walking into someones house instead of the center. She got directions to the REAL redemption place and made a whole $1.60. We got some good pizza and went back to the house to play a game called "what's that blot"(or something like that) and watched a movie. Thats about the extent of our visit. But we had a really good time and bonded and all that and I got to drive Melissa's awesome car home so that was great too.

Now I will write a little birthday tribute to Lisa.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!!!! I love you lots and I'm praying that school will be awesome. :)

Hmmm

So I just want to write an apology to anyone who may check my blog periodically and never find anything new written. I'll try harder in the future. But it probably won't change too much. :)
Well I was going to write a little about my trip to Florida, but Lisa wrote most of it, therefore saving me from having to. So check out her blog (heyshay84) But I will tell some of the highlights. One thing that quickly comes to mind is my Spanish heritage I never knew existed. For some reason, poeple kept mistaking me as being Spanish. (Possibly the dark curly hair?) One person tried talking to me in spanish, but unfortunately the 2 years of spanish I took wasn't enough to understand anything he was saying. Between Lisa and I we figured out he said "Mirar" which means look. But thats about all we could make out. Another time some kids yelled "hola" from the shore while we were canoing. It was interesting being mistaken in that way.
I think I am going to skip ahead now to more recently. I have always known I looked younger than I was, and was often mistaken as looking 2 years younger or so. But recently it's been especially bad. A couple days ago, I was leaving the restroom at work (at work at IGA, a grocery store for those of you who don't know) and there were several male co-workers standing outside. One of them asked how old I was and I informed them that I was 20 years old. I got a big reaction from that. I heard such things as "Are you serious!' and "wow, your really 20?" and several gasps and astonished faces. I asked the inquirer how old he thought I was and he said he thought I was "like 16 or something". Oh well, any time I go to complain about it I'm told that I'll be happy about it someday. I suppose that's true, and its really not all that bad. Today the same person who asked my age said "it's 20 year old Sara" when he saw me and one of the other cashiers said, as usual, "your really 20! I thought you were like 16!" I guess when I'm 40 I'll be glad to be called 36. Well, 20 year old Sara needs to sign off now. I'll write again soon, D.V. Have a good one you all. God bless

La Cocha Roacha

Well here it goes. Here I am in Florida having a nice little visit with Lisa. We've been doing all sorts of fun things like going to Busch Gardens and the beach and a Red Sox game (woot!!) and such. Well today after church we went to a Mexican restaurant with her parents and sharon and robby and katie and lori and jimmy and we were having a nice little visit while enjoying our delicious Mexican dishes. I was about 3/4 of the way through my burrito thing when i happened to glance down and notice an item on my plate that looked somewhat like a small pepper. But with further investigation I noticed this pepper had antenne, which I thought was a bit odd. It was then that I realized this was no pepper at all, but a wonderful little cockroach. At that point I decided to stop eating my food and not say a word to anyone, since that would only result in a panic about the room. I sat there patiently for the rest of the meal, and as we were walking out the door i told Lisa about my friendly visitor. She found it quite disgusting and felt sorry that my first experience with "real" Mexican food was so aweful. Well we are off to the mall now, but I thought I'd share that sweet story with you all. Have a good afternoon.
